About this pattern
I wanted a Star of David that felt warm and handmade, like something stitched by a grandmother and passed down, so I gave this one a folk-art look.
The star is two overlapping triangles outlined in royal blue, with its six points filled in soft baby blue. A little golden rosette sits in the center and tiny gold accents fill the spaces between the points. All around it, two olive branches curve up from the bottom and meet at the top, a gentle symbol of peace.
It's 60 x 60 stitches in just 5 DMC colors, about 4.3 inches square on 14 count Aida. The design is fully symmetrical, which makes it really soothing to stitch, and once you've done one side you'll know exactly where the other side goes.
Ivory Aida gives it a soft, heirloom feel. It looks lovely in a round hoop or a small square frame.
It's a meaningful piece to have up for Hanukkah, which begins on the evening of December 4, 2026 and runs through December 12, and it stays beautiful all year. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a new home, a wedding or a bar or bat mitzvah.
