About this guide
Some of my favorite stitching evenings are the ones spent next to two small, very determined stitchers. This guide is everything my kids and I worked out at the kitchen table, so you can skip straight to the fun part.
You'll find what to buy for small hands (binca, plastic canvas and chunky aida, the right needles and threads), our simple safety house rules, age-by-age tips for 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10+, how to teach the very first stitch in kid-friendly words, attention-span-sized project ideas, and a one-hour family craft night plan you can run this weekend.
At the back there are three tiny practice patterns that grow with your stitcher (Happy Heart, Smiley Star and Little Rainbow, each with a color chart, DMC key and a stitched preview), plus a printable stitching star chart with badges and a certificate for that first, glorious finish.
It's written for grown-ups, whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher or favorite aunt, and you don't need to be an expert stitcher to use it. PDF in US Letter and A4.
