About this spreadsheet
Hi, I'm Sara. Before every new project I ask the same three questions: how big will it be, how much fabric do I cut, and how many skeins do I need? This little calculator answers all three.
Type your design's size in stitches, pick your fabric count (11 to 36) and whether you stitch over one or two, and set your margin. You get the finished size and the fabric to cut, in inches and centimetres, plus the smallest hoop that fits. The All fabrics sheet shows your design on every common aida, evenweave and linen at once, so you can compare before you buy.
The skein estimator takes each DMC number and its stitch count, fills in the color name and tells you how many skeins to buy, using the same planning maths as my Cozy Beginner's Guide (with editable assumptions if you like to tweak).
Works in Excel and Google Sheets, in 5 color themes: Sage, Blush, Lavender, Terracotta and Linen.
