About this pattern
I drew this little fox on one of those still winter mornings when the whole garden is quiet and white. He's sitting between three snowy pines with flakes drifting down around him, and there's something so peaceful about him that I wanted to keep him on the wall all season.
The palette is just 10 DMC colors: warm rust and copper for the fox, crisp white for his chest and tail tip, soft antique blues for the snow and two greens for the trees. The shapes are clean and the color areas are big, so it's a relaxing stitch, with a little more shading than a beginner piece to keep things interesting.
At 70 x 60 stitches it finishes at about 5 x 4.3 inches on 14 count Aida, which fits a 6 or 7 inch hoop with room to breathe. I'd stitch it on antique white or cream so the snow reads softly, but plain white works too.
It makes a lovely Christmas gift for a fox lover, and it looks just as good framed in a cabin-style corner from November right through February.
