About this pattern
I wanted a winter piece that feels like stepping outside on a clear, cold night. A stag stands still on a snowy hill, frosted pines on either side, and the sky above is full of stars, with one bright north star.
The deer is stitched in warm tan so he glows against navy Aida, with the snow and trees in white and soft winter blues. There are just 8 DMC colors and the shapes are simple, so it's a calm, steady stitch, a good one to try if you're curious about dark fabric.
The design is 70 x 80 stitches, about 5 x 5.7 inches on 14 count. That suits an 8 inch hoop or a small frame, and it looks lovely in a rustic wooden frame for a cabin feel.
It makes a beautiful gift for anyone who loves the woods in winter. Stitch it in December and it can stay up long after the Christmas decorations come down.
