About this pattern
This is the piece I'd want on the mantel on the first night of Hanukkah: a golden menorah with all nine flames lit, glowing against deep navy fabric.
I drew it as a proper hanukkiah, so there are eight candles standing level in a row and the shamash rising taller in the middle, the helper candle that lights all the others. The candles alternate soft white and pale blue, each with a layered yellow flame, and a scatter of tiny gold stars fills the sky around it.
It's 70 x 60 stitches in 8 DMC colors, about 5 x 4.3 inches on 14 count Aida, so it fits nicely in a 6 inch hoop or a small frame. The arms are long, smooth curves, so most of your stitching is calm, steady rows of gold. The candles and flames go quickly at the end, and that's when it really starts to glow.
Navy Aida makes the gold and white pop, but antique blue or black fabric works too.
Start it now and you'll have it finished and on display well before Hanukkah begins on the evening of December 4, 2026, ready for all eight nights through December 12. It also makes a lovely hostess gift for a family celebration.
