About this pattern
This snowy owl is one of my favorite little night creatures. He's perched on a snow-dusted branch with his big golden eyes wide open, a crescent moon behind him and a sky full of stars all around.
I designed it for navy Aida, because white and pale gold thread really glow on dark fabric. Don't worry if you haven't stitched on dark fabric before. The design has plenty of open space and only 9 DMC colors, so it's easy to keep track of where you are. A small daylight lamp makes navy much easier on the eyes in the evenings.
It's 60 x 80 stitches, which is about 4.3 x 5.7 inches on 14 count. That's a nice size for a 7 inch hoop or a small frame. The owl body is mostly white with soft gray shading and a few chevron feather marks, so it's satisfying to watch him fill in.
It makes a sweet nursery piece, a winter wall decoration, or a thoughtful handmade gift for anyone who loves owls and starry nights.
