About this pattern
I wanted an Advent piece that feels warm rather than formal. Here are four candles (three purple and one rose for the third Sunday) standing in a full evergreen wreath with holly berries and a red bow. 'Advent' sits above, and the four weeks, Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, are stitched below.
There are ten colors and the candles are big, simple blocks, so it's a satisfying stitch with lots of easy progress. The wreath takes a little more attention, which makes it a good evening project with a cup of tea.
It's 100 x 100 stitches, about 7.1 inches square on 14-count, and charted for antique white Aida.
I love the idea of starting it in November and hanging it on the first Sunday of Advent. It also makes a lovely gift for a family who lights the candles together each week.
