About this pattern
This bookish cross stitch pattern is a cozy three-shelf bookcase with a ginger cat asleep between the books, a lamp, a framed landscape, a teacup on a book stack and a trailing plant. Thirty spines carry short titles like Poems, Garden, Recipes and Moon, and you can swap any of them for your own favorites.
What's inside
- The full chart (120 x 150 stitches, 18 colors) in color, black and white, large print and a Pattern Keeper compatible PDF, plus an OXS file
- My Reading Year 2027: the same bookcase with 52 empty spines to fill, one for each book you finish
- A reading log for 52 books and a guide with color ideas
- An original spine alphabet (upright and turned) with a worksheet to write your own titles
- A matching bookmark: a stack of books with the sleeping cat on top
- 30 extra spines and 10 extra props (globe, teapot, clock, candle and more) to make the shelf yours
- Floss key with DMC numbers and skeins, a real-size preview, a stitch-time estimate and a progress tracker
Time: the full bookcase is about 55 hours. For the reading year, the empty case, cat and lamp are about 30 hours, then each spine is about 30 to 45 minutes when you finish a book. Estimated at about 200 stitches an hour; your pace may vary.
Size: about 8.6 x 10.7 inches on 14 count Aida, 7.5 x 9.4 inches on 16 count, or 6.7 x 8.3 inches on 18 count.
A lovely gift for a book lover or a book club friend, and a gentle New Year project for your own reading goals. Full stitches only, intermediate. I suggest Antique White Aida.
