About this pattern
There's an old story that a ring of mushrooms is where the fairies dance at night, and I wanted to stitch that moment. A big full moon hangs over a mossy hill, a ring of red and pink toadstools glows in the grass, and fireflies drift around.
It's designed for navy Aida so the moon, the stars and the fireflies really shine. There are 10 DMC colors, and the mushrooms are small and simple, so it's a gentle intermediate stitch with lots of little finishes along the way.
The design is 80 x 60 stitches, about 5.7 x 4.3 inches on 14 count. It suits a 7 or 8 inch hoop or a small frame, and it looks magical in a dark wooden frame.
It's a lovely piece for a child's room or a reading corner, or a gift for anyone who still believes in a bit of magic. Use a daylight lamp if you're new to dark fabric. It makes counting much easier.
