About this pattern
I've always loved old botanical prints, so I made my own little mushroom specimen chart. Six favorites each sit in their own box with a stitched label underneath: fly agaric, porcini, chanterelle, morel, parasol and blewit.
The 14 DMC colors give every mushroom its own character: red and white spots for the fly agaric, warm browns for the porcini, golden orange for the chanterelle, a honeycomb cap for the morel, a scaly parasol and a soft lilac blewit. The labels use a small, clear capital alphabet, and the grid lines keep everything neat.
It's 100 x 100 stitches, about 7.1 inches square on 14 count Aida, so it's a bigger project but a very relaxing one. Each box is like a mini pattern, which means lots of small finishes to keep you going.
It looks wonderful framed in a kitchen, a study or a cozy reading corner, and it makes a thoughtful gift for a forager, a gardener or a nature journal lover. I'd stitch it on oatmeal or linen-colored fabric for that vintage look.
