About this pattern
January has two birth flowers, so I put them together in one little posy: a ruffled pink carnation standing tall, and three snowdrops nodding on their arching stems, all tied with a rose-pink bow.
It's a gentle, airy design in 8 DMC colors, with lots of fabric showing, so it feels light and elegant rather than busy. The snowdrops are tiny white bells outlined in soft gray, and the carnation is a fan of frilly petals that's really fun to watch appear.
It makes a thoughtful birthday gift for someone born in the depths of winter, or a sweet new-baby keepsake with the date stitched on the back.
Every design in my Birth Flowers series shares the same layout: a small tied posy with a ribbon bow and the month name underneath, about 3.6 x 5.7 inches on 14 count Aida (50 x 80 stitches). They frame beautifully in a 5 x 7 inch frame, and you can leave the month name off if you'd like just the flowers. I'd stitch it on antique white Aida.
You'll get a color chart, a black and white chart, a large-print chart and a Pattern Keeper compatible PDF, plus a DMC floss key and a how-to-start page.
