About this pattern
This is a big, peaceful project in the old Quaker style. A full alphabet sits at the top, followed by a row of arches with tiny hearts, two octagon star medallions with a crowned heart and tulips, baskets of flowers and a pair of love birds, two trees of life around a Nordic star, and a signature line at the bottom.
I used just three soft heirloom colors (antique red, pine green and slate blue) on natural linen, the way the old samplers were worked. The motifs are symmetrical and repeat, so it's a calm, absorbing stitch you can pick up for twenty minutes or an entire afternoon.
It's 120 x 160 stitches, about 8.6 x 11.4 inches on 14-count or 28-count linen over two. The last line reads 'Sampler 2026'. Swap in your own initials and year using the alphabet in the design itself.
It's made to be framed and passed down, a true heirloom.
