About this pattern
If you're a reader and a stitcher (hello, me too), this one's for you. It's a cozy wooden bookcase with one shelf for each month of 2027. Every time you finish a book, you stitch its spine on that month's shelf, in the color of its genre.
There are ten genre colors: novels, mysteries, romance, fantasy and sci-fi, classics, non-fiction, read-alouds with the kids, memoirs, craft books and comfort re-reads. Rename them however you like on the worksheet. Make chunky books wider and short ones narrower, and by December your shelves will look properly lived in. There's room for about 200 books, and a little plant and a candle keep you company.
You get a filled-in example bookcase (the photos) and an empty one for your own year. Also included: the genre key with DMC numbers, 12 printable monthly reading logs (color a square for every day you read and list the books you finished), and a short guide to stitching a tracker.
The finished piece is 84 x 135 stitches, about 6 x 9.6 inches on 14 count. It's beginner friendly, with whole stitches and simple rectangles. It would make a lovely gift for your book club friend.
