About this pattern
I love collecting leaves on our autumn walks, and the kids always come home with pockets full of acorns. This wreath is my little stitched version of those walks: orange maple leaves, rusty oak leaves, golden birch leaves and soft sage greens, with a pair of acorns at the top and red berries tucked in.
The wreath is laid out symmetrically, so once you've stitched the left side, the right side feels familiar. Each leaf is its own simple shape with a vein down the middle, which keeps the stitching calm and easy to follow. The center is left open, so a calm circle of fabric shows through the middle.
It's 70 x 70 stitches with 10 DMC colors, about 5 x 5 inches on 14 count Aida. That's perfect for a 7 inch hoop with a little fabric showing around it. Antique white, cream or oatmeal fabric all suit the warm colors.
Hang it on the door, over your favorite reading chair, or give it as a cozy housewarming gift in the fall.
