About this pattern
These black cat Christmas cross stitch patterns are for anyone whose cat "helps" with the tree every year. I designed nine sassy, slightly witchy black cat minis in one navy, gold, red and cream palette, so one set of floss covers all nine.
Inside the set:
- A black cat sitting in a holly wreath, looking unimpressed
- A cat knocking a bauble off the branch (no regrets)
- A cat popping out of a Christmas stocking
- A Christmas tree with a crescent-moon topper and its cat
- "Meowy Christmas"
- A cat in a Santa hat
- A cat gazing up at the Christmas star
- A celestial bauble with a moon and stars
- A cat keeping watch beside a candle
Black cats can vanish into dark fabric, so each one has gray highlights along its edges and bright gold eyes, and they're charted for light fabric where they stand out. Each mini is 38 x 40 stitches: about 2.7 x 2.9 inches on 14 count and 2.1 x 2.2 inches on 18 count, so it fits a 5 inch hoop on 14 count, a 4 inch hoop on 16 or 18 count, or a felt ornament. They're full stitches only, with very few single stitches. Every mini has its own one-page chart in color, black and white and large print, plus a Pattern Keeper file and a 3 x 3 sampler layout. A second colorway, Witchy Plum, swaps in plum, sage and old gold for a moodier creepmas look.
Stitch them as tree ornaments, gift tags, cards or a little witchy Christmas sampler. They make a fun gift for a cat lover, and the moon, star and candle minis keep working all winter.
I suggest Antique White 14 count Aida.
