About this pattern
These 12 Christmas bird ornament cross stitch patterns are a little flock for your tree: cardinal, American robin, wren, chickadee, bluebird, partridge in a pear tree, dove, blue jay, snowy owl, goldfinch, junco and cedar waxwing. Each one sits on holly, berries, pine or snow, and I gave every bird the marks you'd spot at the feeder: the cardinal's crest, the robin's brick-orange breast, the chickadee's black cap and the waxwing's little mask.
What's inside:
- 12 bird minis, each on its own page in the color, black and white and large print charts
- A Pattern Keeper file, plus an overview sampler of all twelve under a "Christmas Birds" title
- One shared 18-color DMC palette for all twelve
- Two colorways: Classic Christmas and a soft Naturalist palette
- A bonus 13th mini: a Christmas Card Robin, the round red-breasted robin from old cards
- Ornament circle templates, gift tags, a checklist, a real-size page and a stitch-time estimate
Each bird is 34 x 34 stitches: about 2.4 inches on 14 count, 2.1 on 16 and 1.9 on 18, so it fits a 4 inch hoop or a felt-backed ornament. The whole sampler is 160 x 135 stitches (11.4 x 9.6 inches on 14 count). Full stitches only, with very few single stitches, and every preview is rendered from the actual chart, so what you see is what you stitch.
Hang them on the tree, tie one onto a present or frame the whole flock. A chickadee in the snow looks just as sweet in January.
They make a lovely gift for bird watchers, feeder-loving grandmas and new stitchers. I suggest Antique White Aida, so the snowy owl and the dove stand out.
Plus our free beginner cheat sheet and bonus minis with every order.
