About this pattern
These vintage winter botanical cross stitch patterns are my little Christmas gallery wall: nine plant studies, each in a scalloped oval cameo frame with its name stitched underneath, like the old botanical plates I love finding in junk shops.
The nine botanicals:
- Poinsettia, holly and mistletoe with a red ribbon
- Christmas rose (hellebore) and amaryllis
- Pine cone with needles, ivy, paperwhites and winterberry
What's inside:
- Each botanical on one page in the color and black and white charts, plus large print pages
- A Pattern Keeper file and a gallery-wall overview of all nine
- One shared 15-color DMC palette in soft, muted vintage tones
- A Cream on Sage colorway for stitching on green-grey fabric
- A real-size page, a stitch-time estimate, a progress tracker and a checklist
Each design is 70 x 90 stitches: about 5 x 6.4 inches on 14 count, 4.4 x 5.6 on 16 and 3.9 x 5 on 18, so it fits a 5 x 7 frame. Full stitches only, with very few single stitches, and every preview is rendered from the actual chart, so what you see is what you stitch.
Frame all nine together for a winter wall, stitch one for a card or a hostess gift, or keep the ivy, pine cone and Christmas rose up all winter after the tree comes down.
They're lovely for botanical and cottagecore lovers, gardening friends and anyone who likes a quieter, old-fashioned Christmas. I suggest Antique White Aida for the classic palette, or sage fabric for the cream colorway.
