About this pattern
This personalized Christmas stocking cross stitch pattern is the one I wanted to hang for my own kids: a Nordic folk stocking with a wide cuff for a name, a row of hearts, Selbu snowflakes, a little red cottage between the pines and a polka-dot foot with contrast heel and toe.
What's inside
- The full stocking chart (112 x 168 stitches, 12 colors) in color, black and white, large print and a Pattern Keeper compatible PDF
- Three cuff alphabets with numbers: Cuff Block, Heirloom Serif and Cuff Script
- A name-spacing worksheet with a worked example and blank cuffs, plus a "will it fit?" list of names
- Three colorways: Classic red and green, Nordic white-on-red and Gingerbread
- A matching mini stocking ornament with an initial (38 x 54 stitches)
- A full-size stocking sewing template, a real-size preview, a stitch-time estimate and a progress tracker
- Floss key with DMC numbers and skein amounts
Size: about 8 x 12 inches on 14 count Aida, 7 x 10.5 inches on 16 count, or 6.2 x 9.3 inches on 18 count. Stitched on 14 count it makes a real, full-size stocking to hang on the mantel.
Every part is whole cross stitches, so it's a calm, steady intermediate project. Plan the name on the worksheet first, then stitch the cuff last.
It's a lovely first-Christmas gift for a new baby, a family heirloom with everyone's names, or a matching set for siblings. The mini ornament is perfect for a gift tag or a stocking stuffer.
I suggest Antique White Aida, so the cuff and snowflakes glow against the red. Plus our free beginner cheat sheet and bonus minis with every order.
