About this pattern
This is the pattern I'd hand a child for their very first cross stitch. A big red heart with a soft pink heart tucked inside: just two colors, big blocks of stitches and no tricky counting.
It's 20 x 18 stitches, so it's a quick win. On 11-count Aida it's about 1.8 x 1.6 inches, and on 6-count Binca or 7-count plastic canvas it grows to around 3 inches, which is lovely and big for little hands. Stitch the pink middle first, then go round it in red.
Every pattern in my Stitch Together collection comes with a one-page parent guide, "Stitching with your little one", with my tips on fabric, blunt needles, short threads and keeping it fun.
Finished hearts make sweet cards for grandparents, fridge magnets or a little hoop for their bedroom door.
You get a full color chart, a black and white symbol chart, a large print version, a Pattern Keeper compatible PDF and a floss key with DMC numbers and skein estimates.
