About this pattern
I love a long band pattern, and this one is a whole little pond in a row. Two happy frogs sit on their lily pads, dragonflies hover overhead, pink water lilies float between them and cattails stand at either end, all above a strip of rippling water.
It uses 8 DMC colors: soft greens for the frogs and reeds, blue-green lily pads, pale blue water and dragonfly wings, pink lilies with gold centers and a dark brown for the cattails and eyes. It's an intermediate stitch, mostly because of the long thin reeds and the wave pattern, but nothing tricky.
The band is 100 x 40 stitches, about 7.1 x 2.9 inches on 14 count Aida. It's lovely in a long, narrow frame, stitched along the edge of a hand towel with Aida banding, or as one row of a bigger sampler.
It makes a cheerful gift for a nature lover or a frog fan, and it brings a bit of summer pond life into any room. I like it on antique white fabric.
