About this pattern
This luna moth cross stitch pattern is a single pale green moth with long sweeping tails, plum-edged wings and four little eyespots, set out like a specimen. It comes with a second chart that adds a row of seven golden moon phases above her, from a thin crescent to full and back again, for a dreamy celestial piece.
What's inside
- The luna moth chart (68 x 73 stitches, 8 colors) in color, black and white, large print and Pattern Keeper compatible PDFs, plus an OXS file
- The moon phases version (75 x 86 stitches), same colors and key
- Three colorways: Natural on oatmeal, Midnight on navy Aida, and Vintage sepia
- Floss key with DMC numbers and skein amounts, a real-size preview, a stitch-time estimate and a progress tracker
Size: about 4.9 x 5.2 inches on 14 count, 4.2 x 4.6 inches on 16 count or 3.8 x 4.1 inches on 18 count. The moon phases version is about 5.4 x 6.1 inches on 14 count. The moth alone is about 11 hours of stitching at about 200 stitches an hour (your pace may vary).
The shapes are big and clear and it's full stitches only, so it's a relaxed intermediate stitch and a good next step after a few small pieces.
She suits a dark academia shelf, a moon-themed nursery or a gallery wall, and she's a lovely gift for the friend who stops to look at every moth on the porch light. I suggest Oatmeal Aida, or Navy Aida for the Midnight colorway. Every preview is rendered from the actual chart, so what you see is what you stitch.
